Neil F. Crossley, CPA/PFS

Mr. Crossley is a founding partner of the firm which was first established in 1978.  Mr. Crossley earned his accounting degree from the University of South Carolina in 1968.  As the director of the firm's tax practice, Mr. Crossley maintains responsibility for tax return preparation and tax planning for both individual and corporate clients in a variety of industries.  In addition, he assists clients  with estate, gift, and personal financial planning, and consults with corporations on their pension, profit-sharing and employee benefit programs.  Mr. Crossley has earned the accounting profession's designation of Personal Financial Specialist(PFS), a financial planning certification available only available to CPAs.  He began his accounting career with Arthur Andersen & Co., later moving to Arthur Young & Co. as a Tax Manager.  Mr. Crossley has served as an accounting instructor with UNCC and continues as a senior instructor with the Becker CPA Review Course. 


Scott P. Benefield, CPA/CVA

Mr. Benefield earned his degree in accounting from the University of Michigan in Flint in 1988.   After four years with Abernethy & Company, P.C. in Columbia, South Carolina, Mr. Benefield joined the firm  in 1993 as a staff accountant with expertise in audit, accounting and tax.  His work and dedication to the firm propelled him through management ranks and he became a shareholder in the firm in 2005.  Mr. Benefield is director of the firm's audit practice.  Mr. Benefield's expertise includes audits of manufacturers, construction contractors, various commercial enterprises, and employee benefit plans, tax planning/tax preparation for corporate and individual clients, and business valuations.  In addition to being a licensed CPA,  Mr. Benefield also has earned the Certified Valuation Analyst designation (CVA).  The CVA is the premier accreditation of CPAs who, for many reasons are uniquely qualified to provide business valuation and litigation consultation services.


Charles H. Craven, CPA

Twice a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Mr. Craven first earned his degree in Business Administration in 1973. In 1993 he earned a B.S. in Accounting, joined the firm the next year as a staff accountant and quickly became an invaluable asset to the firm as a tax practitioner.  Mr. Craven's ability to proficiently assimilate both tax and technical expertise, along with his skill in nurturing client relationships positioned him for firm leadership and ownership.  He became a shareholder in the firm in 2011.  In addition to his responsibility for tax return preparation and planning,  Mr. Craven is also responsible for ensuring continuing staff professional development in the firm at levels that substantially exceed basic professional licensing requirements.


Brad Crossley, CPA

Mr. Crossley earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Appalachian State University. His primary role at the firm is to assist with the management of the tax practice. Mr. Crossley has been in public accounting since 2002 and specializes in the areas of income taxation and planning for high-net-worth individuals and small businesses. He began his accounting career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, later moving to Elliott Davis, PLLC as a Tax Manager. He has also held management roles at a couple of local CPA firms. Mr. Crossley is actively involved with his church, sings with various choirs in town, and has served as board member and other volunteer positions with nonprofit organizations.
